Cell C refusing to cancel month to month contract

in December 2021 I took out a phone contract with CellC and the agent on the call offered me a 10 gig month to month Data sim also. I had taken it as he had told me that I can pause and cancel it anytime.

For the past month I am trying to cancel this contract but cell c now tells me that it is a 24 month contract and I have to pay a cancellation fee of almost R700.

The agents also mentioned that from November 2021 they no longer offer month to month deals yet one of their agents offered it to me in december. The start date of my contract is 14th December.

When I first called the cancellation department and asked for a supervisor, they told me the supervisor will contact me. this has happen on multiple occasions and no one has contacted me.
