To whom it may be of concern out there.
I am in the telecommunications field for a pretty long time and I thought I have seen it all.
Unfortunately this is not the case:
1. Roaming with Cell C doesn’t really work. They promise you roaming but their understanding of roaming is mainly in Wireless Calls. Regardless of roaming package still doesn’t really work. It’s useless to call. You get promised the world but never happens.
2. Fiber to the home. I loved this right from the start. Well. The technical team was holding us for weeks with promises of arrival. We wasted about two weekends waiting. The moment the man appeared: He got a modem. Two small Metal brackets and a short cable. Funny that I have to go out now and buy my own cable hence insufficient materials. After a very long period of waiting we finally got the fiber to the home but wait. The router was not programmed or belonged to who knows and a new router was supposed to be brought in. After another waiting period of time we have the F/O router from Telkom :) with a Technicolor from Cell C and as per delivery is plug in and PRAY! Isn’t this nice when things are NOT WORKING?
Another shouting and screaming over the phone to get the username and password to get the router functional.
We now online but wait. In the day is slow and in the night is fast? It’s supposed to be 20/10. After lots and lots of screaming we finally got something like 20:10 working.
3. Month passed away since the first side attack. We decided to give this company a second chance. In our business we wanted internet too and Cell C wanted to be very generous there for making up. We got the router for a higher price of course and the sim card and it’s supposed to be working. It really did the job and the package was 900/pm. We paid.
Feel bit sorry for myself for allowing this but yeah. When you stupid you pay.
Everything was fine until two month later. This was in October last year. All of a sudden. Internet is down. We called and called and the main joke. TOWER ISSUE. Aaaaaaaaa. We waited about a few days. Funny though. I have cell c on my phone and I have network but my router is cell c too and ain’t got network. Strange. The helpline at cell c is really like a walk in Alices Paradise. Everyone is working hard and everyone is pulling, they don’t know what they do and what they pull but man, they working.
Later on we figured out that ... MTN was providing internet for cell c in the area and hence they didn’t got paid, the line was closed. Hahahhahaa You buy cell c you pay and they sell you MTN. Wow. What a joke. The company is called converged business. Not too sure if I’m allowed to put all the owners, secretaries and their numbers in here but upon request I’d be so happy to share all this information with you all. I’ll even make an YouTube video.
After plenty lies and untruthful stories we received a brand new SIM card... which is really going to work now and SORRY SORRY bla bla.
Some of you may think. This is it. Well not quite. In March the line was down again. Lasted about 2 month longer than MTN/CELL C.
Here. We know something is not right. So after calling and calling we saw, it’s not cell c again and we got *****ed up again. It was VodaCom.
Isn’t this nice. You make such a nice adverti*****ts and then you lie the **** out of customers.
Wow. We have had enough here and we said take your stuff and go.
We closed up a brand new contract with VodaCom and man it works. Ain’t got troubles so far.
4. You think we are at the end? Nope. The best part starts about now. The cell c sales guy that was with us all this way, decided to become invisible and left the company. Not too long before that happens, we got billed twice. Yes. On our own home account. This didn’t happen only one time. It happened twice.
There is a long list of calls and talk abouts ... shoutings and bad words. You supposed to pay about 1200 per month and then you end up with 2700 and this for two consecutive month?
Now here the big part of the scrupulous making Beginns.
Cell c had numerous people sick and they all left and there was some bombing alarm which was later on their own strike. The boss left the company and nobody got paid. They all got phones but they can’t call overseas ... Some of it’s true, they had long term striking but this doesn’t change the fact that issues from previous month were left aside and nobody did a thing.
Some of it is even recorded. We got.
The front line. Which is the 084 140 or 084 145 They only take calls, listen to your **** and make promises about case nr and someone will attend to you shortly. Very very bad experience.
Then we got some managers. They even better they tell you their problems and laugh with you over the phone. Nothing happens. Let’s call it Bad Indian Style Joke.
Then we get the higher managers. Some of them they really good. You call them first time. They take your call and they in a meeting and then for the next five days. No call back. No answer to messages, most of them got WhatsApp you see message was sent and read but ... no reply.
They refer you to their secretaries and this is where the drama begins. Nothing much happens.
And then we got the principal. What a blender. The shining knight in black as night armor. Now you see me. Now you don’t. The process and understanding level of lying is here more emotional. I think. If I’d listen to a fairy tale it would have somewhere a happy end. When these guys are talking is equal to a long breath one tone monologue without and end, comma, point or meaning of it. You won’t know what you listened to. I’d say. I’m a foreigner and he spoke something that I can assimilate to English wording but absolutely senseless.
And now we coming to the end of your story.
What can I say. The wireless call is actually a good function and it’s pretty damn good, sad though roaming doesn’t work. I wish to keep the number and the functionality by going to telkom, MTN, VodaCom. Sad though. Will be a problem but what can I say. You have a working product but the company and support sucks. Product wise I’d give it a 2. If roaming would work. Would be clearly a 1. In relation to support and customer relations. It’s a 6 and worse. If you travel a lot the wireless calls is really an option to have cheaper calls Stil though roaming is needed. Shame I like the product but it’s to scary with this company.
Fiber to the home. Pretty stable. Haven’t had that manny issues. Was working fine. Beginning was hard though for the wiring and what not. For the product. I give it a -1. There was some latency problems at the beginning for Netflix and MultiChoice. But after few tweaks was working.
Cell C Personal wise. Don’t even dare to think of support. They take your cash twice and then you battle to get it back or something. Other companies you’ll struggle to get a working product despite the money.
LTE huawei routers. I can’t say much. I’m with VodaCom now. The previous one was a MTN /Cell c thing and secondary cell c/ VodaCom. Can’t really say much about. It was working was fast and good. But not their product.
With VodaCom. Very fast. No problem. It’s not a flat rate internet. Still costs about a thousand a month but pretty damn reliable. By the way. The installation and setup and test etc was done at VodaCom in the shop directly while with Cell c. Is a DIY thing that never really works first hand.
Overall. Equipment together is ok. Is really god but pray you never get into troubles. You’d be doomed and wait for payments back for month like me.
I can’t compromise myself and I can’t say anything good about Cell C personal. Perhaps is their inner political legislation to be like that.
Best regards,
