CELL C OPENS OPENS A ********** 2ND CONTRACT OPENED IN MY NAME AND INTIMIDATES ME TO PAY FOR IT
I have held a corporate cellphone contract with Cell C since approximately 2013. Around July 2016, I app**** for this contract to be moved into my personal profile as I was changing jobs. Around 2019 October, I app**** for an upgrade on my existing contract. With my contract, I was allowed a gadget upgrade and insisted that the package be maintained to ensure my monthly installment does not change.
Only to learn in October 2020 that instead of processing an upgrade, a Cell C consultant **********ly opened a second contract in my name and moved my existing contract to be on a month-to-month profile.
After the upgrade application I made over the phone, I received a cell phone gadget (iPhone 11) delivered to my home address. Consistent with my request for an upgrade on an existing contract, my contract package did not change, including my monthly installments and limits.
Around 2020, I decided to pay my cell C contract through easy pay instant of a debit order. When I would go to a cell c outlet to request my monthly statement to effect an easy payment, I then learned that there is an additional contract in my name. Upon further investigation, I learned that the 2nd contract was never used, meaning the new cell number allocated never made outgoing or incoming calls, did not use any of its package for the duration of its existence, and there is no reflection of how I paid it.
Around this time, because I have changed my payment arrangement, I was receiving numerous calls for a contract in arrears. Further investigations further reflected that Cell C serviced the bogus contract by making deductions for my known contract account payments.
On 07 October 2020, I registered a case of ***** against Cell C, explaining the account's history. Ref No. for the call ***. I comp**** with their directives of submitting an affidavit, evidence of the fact that in my bank account, there was only one monthly installment for cell c, not for two contracts, details of the fact that I never used the bogus contract.
I was asked to submit additional evidence, which again included my banking details and the history of the ********** account. I did. Since February 20021, Cell C has not provided any verdict on my disputed contract and case for *****. Instead, almost daily, I am called by a different debt collector demanding payment of R16000+ for a contract that Cell C and the company's consultant **********ly opened in my name.
I would wish to have your intervention Hello Peter to (i) get Cell C to avail the call recordings to support their claim that I requested a second contract when I had an existing contract that I could upgrade on for a new gadget. I also would wish Cell C to provide proof of activity on the **********ly opened account. Thirdly Cell C must explain why a customer would not use a number and benefits on a contract for the lifespan of a contract.
I would love for cell c to take responsibility for the ********** account and clear my name.
Your intervention and support are greatly appreciated.
Why am I resorting to Hello Peter? Every day, I get a call from a different debt collector. I am made to submit an affidavit to report the ********** activity repeatedly and dispute the contract. I do not get any outcome, only to be called again and asked to do the same thing over and over again.
My name is listed as a bad payer on the credit bureau; Cell C is not responsible for victimizing and exposing me as a customer.
Thank you
