Cell C making it impossible to cancel a service plan digitally
Case number: ***
I moved abroad early 2023 and kept my Cell C sim alive while I managed my admin in South Africa. Except for receiving text messages, which I changed as time went on to my new number, I have not used data or phone services for 11 months now. Over December, Cell C increased the data on my plan and pushed up the price by R100. There was no communication about this and definitely no consent given. I just saw the debit order amount increased. I contacted them and asked them to please cancel my plan (it's a month to month plan before we get into the contract discussion). They emailed me a reply stating I need to contact their retention department via phone to cancel it, although I mentioned I am abroad. Can someone sane at Cell C step in and assist please? Let's cancel that plan ASAP. The real issue here is that there is no way I could cancel my monthly plan on the app. I know why you force customers to go through your retentions dept to try and make a new deal on the fly and keep that premium as you are hard up for customers given your business' state of affairs, but you need to make it easier for people who obviously cannot make use of your services anymore. I was also shocked by the amount of subscription services which pops up on my Cell C app while browsing. The scary thing is if I click on one of those by accident (high likelihood given their size and position on the screen) you will automatically start *****ing more money. You have effectively received thousands of Rands from me over the past 11 months with zero value of the actual data and phone services I have been paying for. Contact me and do the right thing. It is almost as if no-one from your team put a note on my profile to have it pop up on how to proceed when the email from myself came through with the intl number.
Can I ask you to do the following.
1. Look at the Case number
2. Track my customer details and see what my email address is
3. Get someone to contact me via email and we can then arrange a call via MS Teams / Zoom or outbound from your side to quickly resolve this.
Your team monitoring Hello Peter and replying back with solutions that are not executed by the operational team is poor. Think about it, I am not saying this is the case, but your team might be labelled to merely provide appea*****ts on this site to save face, while in reality the same incompetence in operations persist.
Thank you
