Cell C is a ripoff‼️

I have an iPhone contract with Cell C for R509 p/m which was supposed to end in March 2021 but I decided to cancel the contract and pay the settlement amount. I contacted Cell C several times before December 2020 to find out how much I need to pay and no one mentioned there’s a 31 day waiting period. I was also questioning the settlement amount because it seemed like it was not going down but was told the monthly premium I’m paying is for the device not the benefits(1Gig and 120 minutes) and that the benefits are just a bonus of having the contract. On December 31st I paid the settlement amount and forwarded proof of payment to Cell C as advised by their consultant that same day. I then contacted Cell C again on 2 January to follow up on my cancellation request as I didn’t receive any correspondence from them. The consultant confirmed that the money is in and did the cancellation. He further explained that there’s a 31 day notice of which I was never told before. Anyway I agreed to go on with the cancellation and received an sms confirming the request. I asked the consultant assure me that there won’t anything requested from me afterwards and that I won’t be required to pay for anything else and he said there won’t be anything required from me, I’ve paid everything.

On Monday 11 January I received an sms from Cell C saying a debit order of R509 is set for 28th January. I called Cell C and the consultant said to me that the amount is for the 1Gig and 120 minutes I received on 1 January of which I did not ask for. I asked to cancel my contract the day before. How can 1Gig and 120 minutes cost R509,00? Why was it allocated after I requested to cancel? The consultant logged a ticket *** after I asked to be escalated and nothing has been done by cell C in 48 hours. I called Cell C again today and another ticket *** was logged. The consultant also said that the amount is for the benefits I received, then later changed the story saying I don’t owe them anything, both settlement and run(something) balance is 0. I asked to speak to the Supervisor or manager called Michael Makola but was told he will call me back cos he’s in a meeting but nothing has happened thus far. I will not be paying any more money to Cell C, they should sort this mess out. This is a ripoff!
