Cell C Increasing Usage Limits WITHOUT Consent or Agreement by Customer
Cell C has taken it upon themselves to increase the limit on one of our data contracts after we had specifically set the out of bundle limit to R1 with no annual automatic limit increases on the account. They increased the limit on this specific account by R101 to R102 without notifying us at all. All our accounts are in good standing and in credit.
This is in contravention to the Nation Credit Regulators Act, (Sections 116 -119), which clearly states: "A consumer is allowed to request a credit provider to increase his/her credit limit under a credit facility either temporarily or permanently. A consumer has to agree, in writing, to an automatic limit increase to his/her credit facility, but even where the credit provider obtains such agreement from the consumer, the limit may only increase once a year. However, a consumer may at anytime request an increase of the credit limit. "
Be alert and check your accounts when dealing with Cell C.
