Cell C, Flaunting ICASA agreement by trying to bully me into a new contract
Cell C want to bully me into a new contract, even after an agreement with ICASA was reached.
In October 2017, I concluded a 2 year contract for an LTE service with Cell C. The service ran well for a while but deteriorated to the point where it was no longer viable. At the end of 2018 it was down for an extended period of about a week and this again happened in April 2019. I visited the Kolonnade Cell C outlet during May 2019 and asked that the router be changed to 4G , while being slower, was at least reliable. The contract was to run out at the end of October 2019, and I was prepared make this sacrifice for a slower service, until the contract ran out.
On the contract termination, Cell C insisted that the change of LTE to 4G was an upgrade. Getting less than I had, to them was upgrading my service.
They Insisted that a new contract would kick in as soon as the existing contract expired. The existing contract, being the discontinued LTE service that they were unable to support.
After I complained to ICASA, an agreement was reached that I would not have to continue with the contract, and that I could cancel at any time.
I sent an e-mail thanking ICASA for their intervention forwarding it also to Cell C, and confirming the decision by Cell C.
When I called to confirm termination of the contract when it lapsed, I was once again confronted by the very same argument that a new contract would kick in on termination.
Cell C clearly do not feel that they have to abide by an agreement reached after the ICASA intervention.
I believe that an adjudication with ICASA, was reached and that Cell C , by not complying, are in breach of this agreement
