Cell C fails….

My husband (87 years old) has a contract with Cell C. Twice his contract was hacked and expensive phones were added, and then debited to his bank account. Managed to open ***** case at police station for case number one and account was creditted. Case two, went into branch after he received a request from his bank requesting new debit order. My husband has mild dementia and is hard of hearing so was difficult when speaking to ***** agent on the phone. His details ie. his name, ID no. and banking details remained the same, but there was a physical address and email address that had been changed. As his contract was due to expire on 4th August 2024, we went into branch at the Atrium in Durban on the 4th July to make sure the contract would end when stated, was told that the final debit order would be for the whole of August, not when contract ends. I do not understand how these companies can let people buy expensive phones on contract without producing a genuine ID in person. The staff at the branch were very helpful and went out of their way to help, but Cell C leaves a very ugly taste in my mouth

Dear Vivienne Zingol,

Thank you for reaching out to us, and I apologize for the difficulties your husband has encountered with his Cell C contract.

We understand that managing these issues can be particularly challenging given his hearing difficulties and mild dementia, and we appreciate your patience and perseverance throughout this process. Regarding the contract, we would like to clarify that if the expiry date is in August 2024, the final bill will indeed be for this month. The contract is billed in full to ensure the device is completely paid off. Additionally, any benefits loaded on the 1st of August will be carried over to a prepaid account (for Top-Up contracts), allowing your husband to continue using them.

Should you wish for us to investigate or assist with any specific matter, kindly reply privately with a description of that particular matter, and provide the ID number of the account holder for us to assist.

Regards,
Cell C | TN

Best regards,
