Cell C draining airtime BEFORE data bundle is depleted

This is not the first time I've noticed this, but I'm now able to confirm beyond any doubt that this is in fact the case.

On 28 November at 19:11pm I had an airtime balance of approximately R14 (luckily not a large amount) before purchasing a R7 daily data bundle of 50MBs, leaving me with a little over R7.

At 20:49 I received the SMS notification that the bundle was depleted. As always, by the time the SMS is received, a large amount of OOB airtime has already been depleted as well. Not surprisingly, my airtime balance was at R0.00 when I checked it.

What really bothers me though, is the fact that when I checked, not only was my ~R7.00 airtime depleted, but according to the message, I still had 0.47MB remaining on my data bundle. This meant that Cell C drained my airtime BEFORE the data bundle had actually depleted.

Now I know 0.47MB isn't a lot of data, but am I wrong to expect that it be used BEFORE my airtime in Rand value?

As I've said before, this is not an isolated incident, but this time I have taken screenshots to prove it.

If nothing else, this experience has taught me a valuable lesson... Avoid purchasing Cell C data bundles if possible. In the future I will carry my Afrihost MiFi with me to avoid Cell C's questionable practices.

I sincerely hope that anyone else who has experienced a similar issue, reads this, and reconsiders their source for mobile data.

After this experience, how can one be sure they even accurately and honestly measure data usage?
