Cell C disingenuous plan to not honor cancellation requests
I called Cell C cancellations department on 28 December 2023 to cancel the only contract that I had with them and to transfer it to a prepaid SIM, which the consultant confirmed. I was told there is a 1 month notice period. When I followed up on 23 January 2024 to make sure the prepaid SIM will be available by the 28 January 2024, I was informed that there is no cancellation request and I must start the 1 month notice period again. According to their records, the call I made on 28 December was to cancel a iPhone contract which I never ever had a contract with them for. They confirmed to me that I didn't have a iPhone contract with them. I explained to them that the only contract I could've cancelled was for a existing contract and therefore their claim that I didn't cancel my existing contract but I cancelled a contract they confirmed I never had, makes no sense. They said they would investigate the calls and get back to me in 48 hours. That time passed and when I called to follow up, they said the case was closed because they tried to call and they couldn't get hold of me and they refuse to give me feedback as to why the case was closed. I provided them with alternative contact number and they have my e-mail, there was no effort to contact me using these channels. The escalation process now has to be restarted and the 1 month notice period started over again. This is the most frustrating process, it seems as if staff has been trained to leach any remaining debit orders from a customer base that is leaving in their droves. This seems to be a tactic to keep consumers dragging on month by month by not honoring cancellation requests. This experience confirms the reason why I initially decided to leave Cell C .
