Cell C deliberately withholds information from customers

I was sold a new contract that does not allow one to phone ‘special numbers’ I.e. 086 and 087 numbers, so I have to buy additional airtime in order to call these numbers. The ‘special numbers’ would typically be for a business/company. So be warned people as Cell C deliberately withholds this information from unsuspecting customers, forcing one to spend more. A deliberate, sneaky and disingenuous way to do business. None of their packages include ‘special numbers’ and I was told “this is how it works” - for you maybe Cell C but certainly not for your customers! So if a customer does a lot of business with a corporate, bank or any institution that has a ‘special number’ know that the cell c package does not cover that call in the contact!! I am appalled at how sneaky Cell C is. Bad tactics Cell C, no wonder your business is in trouble!!

Good Evening Luisa

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Please note that Special, Premium and Shared calls are not added as numbers that Cell C minutes can cover. This is because these calls bill on different rates and they are not just standard calls. This is stated on the Subscriber Agreement.

To make calls to these numbers you will be billed out of bundle, therefore, you need to have rand value airtime or it is charged from your usage that is billed post making the call.

Exactly my point, you’ve stated the obvious, your reply does not address the fact that I was not informed about this during the ‘sale’ of the contact! So I have tons of minutes available in my package that don’t cover these special numbers and I had to buy additional airtime in order to call!! What use is a package like this!? Why doesn’t Cell C figure out a way to proportionately charge for special numbers from the available minutes? What happened is that I was unable to make urgent calls to my bank until I bought more airtime, which doesn’t make any sense as I have tons of minutes available!! That’s the point cell C, you’re making your billing problem the customer’s!! Sort out your inefficiencies and be upfront and honest when you sell packages so we know if we’re being sold ******* and can make informed decisions there and then. Trying to change the contact with your call center is frustrating - no one is authorized to make the changes. You simply waste people’s time when a simple functionality cannot be app****. How does Cell C even have the courage to openly dupe people? As I said before, sneaky and disingenuous. Would not recommend Cell C.

Oh Cell C, you just do t get it do you? Such a daft reply - classic avoidance- you don’t address the issue at all; you know it’s wrong but your arrogance simply won’t allow you to admit it. Your business tactics and POV are completely distorted- as if customers don’t recognize that. Don’t bother replying with another *********** remark. I’m going to escalate this to ICASA.
