Cell C Defaulting on Signed Contract
On Wednesday 28 February 2018 I was contacted by Cell C upgrades department, reminding me that one of my contracts is due for an upgrade and they want to give me a Samsung phone. I told them that I will only upgrade the contract if I can get an iPhone on a good deal. The sales person said that they don't have current stock but asked if she could call me back when they do receive stock. I said yes and ended the call. On Thursday 1 March 2018 I received a call from the same female sales agent saying that Cell C has 3 iPhone SE's available on contract upgrade for R200. I told her to go ahead and allocate one of those to me. We went through the entire process of signing the contract over the phone, I was told that the call was recorded, and after a couple of minutes the deal was concluded. At that stage I was very happy that I managed to get an iPhone at a great deal for my daugter. Much to my dismay I received a call on Friday 2 March 2018, from a different person, advising me that Cell C does not have this deal available for me and that I will not get my iPhone at the price of R200, but they can give it to me at a contract price of R320, and would I like to go ahead? I told the person that this is unacceptable, as I signed the contract the previous day and that Cell C needs to honour the contract that they signed with me. The person said they would get back to me and we ended the call. On Monday 5 March 2018 I received another call from Cell C advising me that there is nothing they can do, and offered me 1 gig data for the inconvenience caused (I mean really?? I have uncapped fibre at home and at work!). I advised them that this is not acceptable and that I am not interested in 1 gig data and I want the phone that I signed up for, and ended the call.
After that I did not receive any call back from Cell C. On Friday 9 March 2018 I called Cell C to follow up when I will be receiving my iPhone SE. The sales agent advised that their system does not have record of me getting a new phone, only upgrading from my original Top Up Contract to an Open Line. This is also totally unacceptable. I did not sign up for this!
The only conclusion I can come to is that Cell C has disregarded and ignored the fact that I signed up for a 2 year contract at R200 per month which includes and iPhone SE. I am shocked at their audacity to keep calling me to upgrade, I then agree to it and they turn around and now refuse to uphold their part of the agreement. I have been a loyal Cell C customer for 20 years and have 3 contracts. I am shocked that Cell C would treat me this way.
