Cell C decides to load data without consent

Very inconsistent with their policies, one person says you should cancel a contract 3 months in advance and another says 30 days. Now my contract was never cancelled, it expired and I am stuck with a bill that is twice as much as the contract because Cell C decided that they just load up data on the sim card?? How can they decide to just do that and now I have to just pay it?
