CELL C *********: CLIENT CAPTURE
Well we are trying to deal with state capture as Cell C unashamedly *****s from customers
How can you sell the product: Cell C Deluxe phone? This phone is not deluxe, it is a device of theft! As data is loaded so it is used. As you pay so Cell C *****. You remove harmful aps but more keep popping up. Useless ads such as Poker, bank ads, bitcoin ads and all sorts of dreadful games! I bought this theft device from Cell C in La Lucia and have taken it back three times but your staff do not even know what to do with it! I show it to all my friends and none of them can understand how such a device exists. How do you think you are going to get away with this crime Cell C?
I am reporting this matter to Hello Peter and Megan Power of the Sunday Times consumer watch.

I cannot spend my life driving to La Lucia to sort this phone out. I am a very busy woman.
Strangely enough your staff at La Lucia were reluctant to sell me this phone in the first place and warned me it was useless.
I was in a rush, had no fica documents and needed a phone urgently which is why I purchased it.
CELL C SHOULD NOT BE SELLING THESE PHONES.
I am going to remove my sim card and courier the phone to Megan Power of the Sunday Times consumer watch so she can investigate.

I am not on any tariff plan. I am on pay as you go. What are you talking about tariff plans? This is another thing for consumer watch to look into. Cell C charging over non-existant tariff plans.
As I have already told you ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS I have already taken the phone into Cell C at La Lucia and they cannot fix the problem.
They told me not to buy the phone as it is useless.

Thank you for getting in touch.
Unfortunately you did not offer me the opportunity to address the concerns you pointed out on our conversation.
You mentioned that the device often shows pop-up ads. This is a setting issue on the device, which can be addressed. We would like you to book in the device at your nearest
Cell C store, so that it can be sent through to our repair centre. This will also give us an opportunity to look into the battery of the phone, which you raised as a second issue.
Regarding the disappearance of your airtime, our system shows that you are often charged out of bundle for data usage. This occurs when you have depleted your data, which
means you are then charged off your airtime for data connectivity. This means that your airtime depletes a lot quicker because you are charged at R2 per MB. You are on an old tariff plan, which you have been active on since 2008.

I BOUGHT MY SON A SAMSUNG PHONE ON CONTRACT FOR 2 YEARS FOR R349.
AFTER 10 MONTHS IT SUDDENLY CHANGED TO R359.
THEN TWO MONTHS LATER, A YEAR FROM THE INCEPTION DATE OF CONTRACT I GOT A BILL FOR R620. FEARING THAT IT WOULD KEEP ESCALATING I ASKED FOR A CREDIT LIMIT OF R50.
THE NEXT BILL WAS FOR THE FULL CREDIT LIMIT. I FOUND THIS STRANGE BECAUSE FOR A YEAR IT HAD NOT CHANGED.
I THEN REQUESTED (17 JULY) A CREDIT LIMIT OF R0 SO THAT IT WOULD BE AT THE ORIGINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT OF R349, (NOW R359).
I WAS TOLD THIS WAS NOT ALLOWED AS THE PHONE WOULD SOFT LOG AND COULD NOT BE USED.
I WAS TOLD I COULD REDUCE IT TO R1.
THEN I WAS TOLD THAT BY GOING TO 7# MY SON COULD DOWNLOAD ANY DATA WHICH WOULD BE ADDED TO THE BILL
THE BILL IS DEBITED OFF MY ACCOUNT. I GAVE ALL MY PERSONAL DETAILS TO CELL C TO REDUCE THE CREDIT TO R1.
NOW THEY TELL ME THAT MY SON CAN RUN UP A BILL, ON MY ACCOUNT, WITHOUT HIM PROVIDING ANY DETAILS, AND I MUST PAY.
THIS IS ALLOWED EVEN THOUGH I HAVE, IN WRITING, AN EMAIL FROM CELL C, SAYING THAT MY CREDIT LIMIT IS R1.
SURELY THIS IS NOT LEGAL. I WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE AWARE OF THIS
