Cell C CONTRACT UPGRADE nightmare (and rip-off)

In July 2020 I upgraded a data contract to a Pinnacle contract (incl new phone, data, airtime and SMS's). I specifically requested to keep my existing number of almost 20 years.

INSTEAD Cell C issued a new number with the contract.

For the next two months, I double paid - for both contracts but wasn't seeing the airtime. It then came to light that the Pinnacle data, airtime and SMS was on a new SIM. (Which I did not realise or think about since I had asked to train my number)

I asked to switch the contract to my number of 20 years - INSTEAD they cancelled my number and I received a notification that my number of 20 years was removed from my profile.

I phoned in again - to enquire, after which they said I need to pay to get my number back (AFTER THEIR MISTAKE). Of course I want my number back - so what choice do I have?

They then reinstate my number as prepaid and the Pinnacle contract remains on the "new sim" which I never asked for and has since been thrown away - because I didn't know I needed it.

BUT IT DOESNT END HERE

They say they will phone me to confirm the number switch. But they cant phone me, because my number was deleted, so I ask them to phone my husband.

He never got the call, because they took the number down incorrectly and phoned some random dude who obviously didn't want their number to change.

Monday (2 Nov 2020) phone the customer care and speak to Lindele who says they will escalate and call me. No call received.

Wed 4 Nov - use the FB messenger line - they say someone will call me.

Today I have a pinnacle contract I cannot access. I have my number of 20 years on prepaid and cant make calls unless I buy airtime. Which is ridiculous considering I'm paying R1399 for a Pinnacle contract that I cant use.

HELP!!! PLease - how do I sort this out.

You mean that I just resolved it by going into the store, and now that the number is on prepaid, the Tygervalley store manager said the Pinnacle contract will move over to my current number. He made the changes while I was there.

I trust that
1. I won't be charged for all of these mistakes by Cell C
2. I will receive credit for all the airtime and data lost since July

Amazing and sad that things only really get sorted out when a customer has to resort to social media.

"Inconvenience" is bar far not sufficient to explain the experience I have had. I have lost many, many, many hours trying to get this resolved.

I pay you, getting it right is/was not "optional"
