Cell C contract saga

<p>I took a contract with Cell in 2010 and stopped using the number for over 2 years now. I called them to cancel the contract and was advised to go into a store and write a letter which i did but they did not stop debiting my account. During this time they had promoters calling me to upgrade and I kept advising I have cancelled, one of their sales people even acknowledged that they see I have not used this and asked if I would like a new sim. I eventually cancelled the stop order and they did not call me to even ask why. I enquired now as this came up in another credit application and I am advised that they did not receive my cancellation and that I have to pay the arrears and another month for final cancellation! otherwise I must give them the month in which I called and from which number so that they can go an find my call. where is fair in all this. I have NOT used their service and the original contract has expired in 2012 already. They should actually be refunding me! I am not happy about this at all. I understand their processes and I really got mad with the lady at the call centre and I understand they are doing their jobs and following their processes but there are times when processes need to reviewed and logic app**** to understand your customer. If I didnt make an effort to cancel this contract then I would not complain! This is the reason I left Cell C in the first place! BAD Service!</p>
