I went into the Cell C centre at Eastgate on Monday to sort out my previous contract issues. While the consultant was going through the system, she felt the need to inform me that my ID number (ending in 087) was incorrect and that it should be (187) to reflect that I am a foreigner. I informed her that I am a naturalised citizen and that my ID was in fact correct. She asked me what "naturalisation" meant, didn't wait for a response and then said "you must go back to home affairs. Your ID is wrong." I was very offended by this. I don't expect to have my nationality questioned, especially not when I'm trying to sort out my contract issues.
