CELL C complaint - treating customers fairly... I think not!
I called Cell C today to cancel a contract I have with them. First I held on for 05:20 just to have the call cut by a person (whom I could hear in the background) after a couple of seconds. On my second call I came trough to a person that was not very helpful in the sense that he was more interested in TELLING ME that listening to me. Whenever I tried to ask a question he would just bulldoze over me and continue talking. So much so that I became extremely rude and annoyed. I was told that my contract would end on 27 July 2020 and that I needed to give 30 days notice. Which now meant that I would be liable to pay for a further 30 days. What infuriated me even more is the fact that my 30 days would now only start today and that my contract would as such end on 06 August 2020 (which I am happy with and understand) BUT, I would be liable to pay for a full month's benefits for AUGUST and that my last debit order would run on 30 AUGUST but my benefits would be cut on 06 August 2020. According to this call centre agent, I could however request that the contract be extended to 30 August but at this point I was already to annoyed to care.
My questions now are:
1. My contract ends on 27/07/2020, I am contractually liable for a debit order on 30-07-2020 and I am happy with this. Why must I pay for another month?? I am not giving 30 days notice and I am happy to pay prorata until 06/08/2020 because I only gave notice today but instead I am told I need to pay a full month!! This is a fair way of doing things is this????????
2. I am contractually obligated to provide 30 days notice, which I am willing to do. Why are you adding 24 additional days?
3. I am contractually obligated to provide 30 days notice, are you not obligated to provide me with a reminder that my account is ending on this date to enable to me comply with the 30 days notice without forcing me into an additional month?? It seems to me that you do not remind your contract customers because then you are assured at least another FULL "contract" installment out of them.. I have put the word contract in quotes on purpose because there is no actual contract past the contract cancellation date.
My Fibre contract with CELL C, my cell phone contract is with CELL C and my LTE contract (the contract in question) is with CELL C and until this morning I was only planning on cancelling the LTE contract. Unless I am now treated fairly, I plan to cancel all my contracts/services with CELL C.
I hope to receive a response via this complaint soon.
