Cell C charges Customers for their Mistakes

My cellphone contract was meant to expire on 30th July 2023. At the beginning of May they had no handets I was interested in and I agreed to just have a SIM only contract. Almost a week later I was called by the upgrades dept again and offered a decent handset for an upgrade. The Lady I spoke to (KIM - and I have her cell number), assured me that the SIM only deal would be cancelled and the upgrade with handset will take its place. Which would mean that the new upgrade will only come into effect when the current contract term had lapsed. This did not happen. They gave me a new line for the new contract and charged me for it as well as my current contract. After numerous irate calls, and 2 months of paying for 2 separate contracts - they advised that my current contract will expire and go to prepaid which they can allocate onto the new line which will allow me to keep my old number. Upon calling them today (31st July 2023) to have my now prepaid number transferred over to the new contract so that my number still exists and continues as a contract, they tell me that I HAVE TO PAY R 250.00 to have the prepaid number transferred onto a contract number. THIS will not be accepted and I WILL NOT BE PAYING ANYTHING ADDITIONAL DUE TO THE FACT THAT THIS WAS A MISTAKE ON THEIR PART FROM THE BEGINNING. THEY ALLOCATED A NEW LINE TO MY ACCOUNT AND DIDNT FOLLOW THEIR OWN UPGRADE TERMS. The consultant refused to despatch me through to a supervisor or manager and assured me that someone will call me back - this has not happened. I use my phone for work and I cannot have this line as a prepaid number as I have to make calls. Their mistakes will not be paid for by me and this is the last time I will ever do an upgrade or have any contracts with Cell C. As soon as my contract terms are over - I will cancel all contracts with them and advise my family members and friends to do the same.

Reviewer Update
It's been 2 days since I reported this and the situation has now escalated even worse. Cell C has the worst, and most illiterate staff I have ever encountered. Nelisiwe from your social media division who keeps calling me to TRY AND SORT THIS OUT, makes things worse each time. After over a month of cell c being noted as one of the most useless service providers, they have now added ******ion of funds to their resume. After the irritation, anguish, frustration and stress of your pathetic and dismal service, I have had to pay R255 for your f****** mistake, to have my original cell number reinstated on my contract. The level of incompetence in that is even staggering. I had the Sim in my phone and they did the number change, which thereafter changes my 074 number into a 084 number, and the Sim that I never used when receiving the handset is now meant to be the "new 074 number".
According to Nelisiwe, i needed to go home and put the new sim in my phone and the 074 number will work.
SPOILER ALERT: IT DOESNT F****** WORK.
And i explained this to her on the phone, she didnt listen.
she was supposed to call this evening at 6.30pm. It is now 20.36 and I am left with no 074 number. I use this number for work as well as every contact of mine has this number. I'm currently uncontactable.
How much more useless can a service provider get???
