Cell C Billing Nightmare
We have ended our contract with Cell C in Dec 2021. First we had to wait for 30 days before the expiry of the contract, you are not able to tell them more than 30 days ahead of time your intent to no longer continue with the contract. Finally phoned them on the Saturday to notify them of the termination.
I was told that because my end date is the 6th, they will work out the monies due pro-rata similar to what was done when we took out the contract. Upon the notice of termination my wife started having issues with data and calls not working the way it used to work. Finally we just wrote it down to a bad network.
Beginning of Jan 2022 I started getting calls at 7 am when answering just nothin on the other end of the line. Finally of the 4th day the person spoke and claimed that she is a debt collector on behalf of Cell C. I phoned Cell C and was put back and forth between prepaid and contracts because they didn't know what to do if customer queries their contract after termination. I disputed the final amount as this was the full amount for the month and we did not get the full benefit of data and airtime for the month, this was also not what was said by the Cell C representative. I am still waiting for Cell C to phone me back regarding the incorrect bill and I am still getting harassed by a debt collector from Cell C.
They have contacted me on the 19th of Feb. I have requested my contract, call recording with the agent where he stated that the last billing date would be the 1st of Dec and the amount will be worked out pro rata on what I used and the invoices of the contract. Thus far no response after following up multiple times. Seems I will have to lodge a complaint at ICASA and CPA.
