Cell C a nightmare!
Cell C are a complete nightmare to deal with when trying to resolve a billing or contract issue.
Despite multiple calls to the call centre plus multiple emails and multiple escalations to supervisors, who promise to resolve the matter, NOTHING has been done.
I've wasted hours of my time on the phone to Cell C and writing emails.
Basically my daughter's latest two-year contract ran out end November 2024. She has been on contract with Cell C since she was 16, and she is now 24. So it is a good few years! You'd think Cell C would value her business.
The contract was for R261,48 in October 2024 and increased by 10% to November R286,35 a month ahead of the normal annual escalation in December, and also coincided her contract expiry. When December arrived, Cell C simply removed the "discounts" and then debit my account for R478 (67% more!!). Rather than end the contract or limit the services to what R285 buys these days. This happened for a few months (December, January, February) before I picked it up in March 2025 and phoned to find out why the amount had gone up so much!
This was when I was told the discounts got removed and it's in Cell C T&Cs!!! So I cancelled the contract in March as they weren't interested in assisting in resolving the matter.
My daughter asked me to take new contract out 1 April for 12 months. Well Cell reactivated the cancelled contract (R478) and started the new contract so bascially double deducted me for April for the same number on two separate contracts!
When I reversed the incorrect debit via my bank because it was wrong, even though I paid Cell C the right amount by EFT Cell C levied a R70 returned debit order fee twice whilst I tried resolving the billing mess.
Case numbers: *********
Even better when you email the email address they advise you to in the statement emails they bounce!
Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups: *** The email address you entered couldn't be found. Please check the recipient's email address and try to resend the message. If the problem continues, please contact your email admin.
So bascially they're anightmare and can't resolve issues related to billing. Don't take a contract out with them because of the T&Cs!!

So it's off to the Consumer Council and ICASA to lodge a formal complaint.
If you want to get ********** sign up with Cell C.
Watch out for those T&C.
When your contract ends Cell C will remove the discounts.
So best you cancel it formally.
2nd catch, you can only rely cancel it on the 1st day of the last month (technically).
You can cancel prior but it must be no more than two months prior.
3rd catch it's a 30-day cancellation, but you billed in full for the last month and forfeit the balance of benefits for the final month.
Basically, they terminate 30 days from when you call in.
So make sure when you cancel, make it only effective 1st of the next month.
If you stupid, enough like me, to sign up again (within 30 days of cancelling) on a new contract or terms they will double bill you for the same month. Yeah you have the joy of paying twice!!!
If you reverse their debit order, they will debit you R70 automatically and list you with the credit bureaus.
Best of all, you will waste your time completely trying to sort anything out with Cell C.
No one can or will assist. They literally don't care!
Their response is. We can do it - it is in our T&C.
Cell C's view - So suck it up, buttercup.
