Can't SIM swap on RICA'd sim

Good day I'm really frustrated with Cell C My cell C SIM was damaged recently. I went on to purchase a new one. As per RICA regulation, my SIM card had to be RICA'd in store when purchased. I went on to call Cell C call center to make a SIM swap but I was told by the consultants that they need a "blank" SIM to do the SIM swap. Apparently they are unable to swap my number on a RICA'd SIM. I was told to go to a Cell C store to have them do it for me,which is impossible since we are on lock down and all their stores are closed... Now this is very frustrating for me because the only places where I can purchase a new Cell C SIM during lockdown is at Pick n Pay, Shoprite etc and their SIM cards are subject to in store registration before being sold. There is nowhere else where I can find a new none RICA'd SIM I'm stuck now because I'm in need of my number, as it is my primary number of contact for everything and everyone. I've called multiple times and the rude call center consultants just leave it at "Sorry sir we can't do a SIM swap on a RICA'd SIM, you'll have to wait for after lockdown!! " We don't know when that is going to happen, in the meantime, I'm stuck here and my other concern is that soon enough cell C will be the one's deactivating my number due to inactivity.

I'm really frustrated Cell C sucks.

Hi Luyanda

The SIM card you bought, is it registered in your name? If so and you have not inserted the SIM card in your phone, may we have the SIM card number.
