Cancelling Cell C contract is a nightmare

I have been trying to cancel my Cell C contract for the past three weeks without any success. I first called the customer service number and informed them of my intention to cancel the contract. I was transferred to the cancellation department and the call was cut immediately. Calling the cancellation department directly did not yield any results as the number does not exist. At the branch, I was told that they cannot cancel the contract. I got cut off again a few minutes back and this means I continue to pay for the contract I do not want. Why is it so difficult to cancel Cell C contract? Is it a deliberate strategy to deter customers from cutting ties with Cell C? This is extremely poor service.
