I've had a fibre contract with Cell-C / Vumatel for just over 2 years, I've been on their entry-level offering (4 down, 1 up), and felt it was time to scale up. I also decided to change providers, because while Cell-C have been OK, there are providers who offer better packages.
I therefore emailed ********** on the 25th September 2018, and gave them one months notice. I received an automated notification of receipt, which I took to be sufficient evidence that I had met their 'written notification of termination' requirement.
On the 30th October, I engaged my new provider. However, on the 1st November, Speedtest still reported Cell-C as my provider. I contacted my new provider, who said that Cell-C need to release my line before they can take it over.
I phoned Cell-C, who said I needed to email the termination message to ********** I therefore sent a message to them, giving them immediate notice of termination.
I have never received any response to any message, apart from automated ones. The ********** mailbox is reporting as full.
I realise that if you laid out a clear method of terminating a contract on your website, every other service provider in SA would point at you and laugh. However, while you can make the process non-intuitive and byzantine, you do actually have to provide the option.
Also, you may note I gave you 2 stars. A rave review I think you'll agree. You get one star because you can't actually rate zero stars, you get a second star for not being Telkom. So there's still hope.
