cancelled contract but I am still being debited and harassed

I have been a customer of Cell C for the past 6 or more years.

I had three cell phone contracts with Cell C with the following numbers:

********** – I paid this contract off on the 15th June 2018. I contacted Cell C and requested a settlement amount and same was given to me an amount of R590 was paid to Cell C as the settlement. On the 18th June 2018 I called Cell C in order to cancel the contract as I was told that I can call after 24 hours after paying. The contract was cancelled the same day. I confirm that the same month no debit order run in my account and this was in order because I had cancelled the contract.

********** – I paid this contract off on the 15th June 2018. I called Cell C to request for the figure and same was provided to me. I can’t remember the figure I paid for this contract as a settlement but if I’m not mistaken I paid around R350. I called on the 18th June 2018 to cancel the contract and same was done the same day. No debit order run for this contract in June 2018 as I had paid the account off and cancelled same. See statement

The other contact – Data bundle (061 … number) – This was the only contract I was left with on which I was paying R135 a month. After I paid off the two contracts and cancelled them I was surprised that no debit order ran for this contract as well for the month of June 2018.

The whole mess started on the 20th July 2018 when a debit order for R681.00 ran from my account. I called Cell C to enquire about this and I was told that this is for the two contract which I have cancelled. I asked the consultant about the amount, what was it for as I have paid off my contract. The consultant checked and couldn’t give me a proper answer. I than decided to return the debit order unpaid. Another debit order run for an amount of R180 which I did not return unpaid I took it that it was for the contract I’m left with, even though I am paying R135 on that contract.

The problem I keep on having now was that both my numbers were blocked the data number and the ********** which is my main number have been blocked. These numbers have been blocked from July to this day. The strange thing is that the data contract I am paying every month (see attached statement). The ********** number I have paid off and cancelled the contract. The number is currently on prepaid, why is it blocked?

I have been getting called from Cell C telling me that my data bundle contract is in arrears every time I try to explain what is happening no one seems to know what is going on. I get sent from pillar to post, some will understand what I’m talking about and promise to investigate and come back with a resolution but nothing till today. At one stage I requested for the call recordings and even asked the consultant to listen to the call recordings and advise if I was ever told of the information I am now given.

I have been harassed by Cell C it’s unbelievable that the whole problem was caused by me settling the two contracts. The last call I got from Cell C was from a very rude lady who told me that I needed to pay the cancellation fee. Why was I not told of this when I called to request for the settlement figure. Why was the cancellation fee not included in the amount if that was the case? If it is the cancellation fee that I needed to pay why is it for the 074 number and not the 062 number. Why is the 062 number not affected and only the 074 number while I cancelled both the contract?

Why when I called to cancel the contract wasn’t I told about the cancellation fee, how was I able to cancel the contracts?

Today I get a call and I’m told that I have been handed over because I owe R900 for what?

I need this matter to be given an urgent attention and proper investigations to be done as to what happened.
