C Fiber - Avoid at all costs.

Dear potential Fiber subscriber,

If you care about your connection, then C-Fiber is not the right place to look. They will make up all kinds of stories, deliver late, and after numerous complaints (via many departments, including via this channel) you discover they are fully autonomous and accountable to nobody. They will not help you under any circumstances - let alone return your calls or fix your issue.

I am sure that they will reply with a comment to this saying "We're terribly sorry and we will get in touch with you". I've had that for weeks now - told to me repeatedly. Yet here I sit, internetless, in any case.

I write this complaint purely to let anyone know that if you apply for them, you will not get connected in a reasonable time, you will not get call backs, you will have to follow up and complain repeatedly and - most importantly - you'll discover that they are accountable to nobody. They will not resolve your problems and once you're in with them, it's hard to get out since the other ISPs cannot help you by placing a new order.

They may seem competitively priced, especially on Openserve - but you get what you pay for - I have discovered the hard way.

Thank you for notifying us of the above.

Sincere apologies for the unsatisfactory service and inconvenience caused. We will address this matter with the relevant department to have this kind of behaviour rectified. This is not the norm or standard of service we want for our customers.

We want all our customers to be given proper service.

Dear Cell C. Let the numbers speak for themselves. http://www.speedtest.net/result/ ********** 201.png http://www.speedtest.net/result/ ********** 784.png Notice that the difference in the distance is due to the fact that Cell C has no local break out in Cape Town for Fiber. The website thus erroneously believes that I am in Johannesburg. Either way, I paid for a 100 meg line. One test is with Cell C as my ISP - The other with a test account from Axxess. Below is a n extract of the reply that I shared with your office. Perhaps other consumers may learn from this story. ------ I've had it connected and the following are screenshots of the speed test that I was given with the Cell C account, details below. Above that, I had a re-test of the line a few moments later on the Axxess test account. For your reference, so there is no ambiguity or uncer*****y in any of this, I attach your own policies and procedures (T&Cs), as well as marketing material to this email. Please explain to me how it is possible to purchase a 100mb package, yet to receive only a download speed of maximum 23 mbps. I am of the view that this is not in line with what I purchased at all. I draw your attention specifically to section 10.1 that states in no unambiguous manner that the service is unlimited, unshaped and unrestricted. I also draw your attention 47 that states only that an acceptable use policy exists with the express purpose of regulating the abuse of the network. I am of the view that this cannot apply since I have just started using the network and as such have had no opportunity to abuse the network in any way whatsoever - nor can it be argued that the use of the network for the speed that was promised constitutes abuse. Whilst the acceptable use policy states that bandwidth may be limited, the terms and conditions state that the policy only applies to prevent abuse. To proactively limit my account to less than 25% of its throughput in order to 'prevent abuse', where no abuse has in fact occured is an unreasonable treatment of my account as abusive where none has occured. Finally, this type of performance is wholly inadequate to meet my internet needs. As such, I am of the view that several provisions of the consumer protection act apply in this regard, particularly regarding the failure of adequate delivery as outlined above.
