Broken out of the box

Yesterday I received my phone via delivery. The Sony m2 aqua doesn't read any sim card. This is an out of the box fault. I called yesterday only to be told it is the sim card that needs to be activated. The sim is working. The phone doesn't read any sim card. This is horrible l. When I phoned again this morning I get the message I should call back in office hours, the consultant said you are open listen to the recording. Now I understand I will only get my phone back in May due to you needing to send it back... However lets look at the consumer law and the 7 days exchange...
