Be so careful when you upgrade !!

I’m writing in hopes that someone else doesn’t end up in the very disappointing situation I am in with Cell C when I upgraded my contract.

During the course of the month prior I made sure that I looked around to see what all my options were before I made a decision. I saw the Cell C Pinnacle 250 contract advertised on their website. I called on the 17th of Feb and proceeded to chat to Octavia to upgrade my package to the Pinnacle 250 contract including a Samsung S7 phone, 250 minutes plus 500 additional minutes and 250 MB data a month plus a once off 10 GB data. I did cussed the data with Octavia as the website had advised on an additional 10 GB of data and I wanted to know when that would be in effect.

When my new contract started I was not given the additional 500 minutes and was left with only 250 minutes. I called on Wednesday the 3rd of May to query this. I sent an e-mail on Saturday the 6th as I had not heard any feedback, I called again on Tuesday the 9th and was advised that an e-mail was sent to Octavia and to her manager Ragan Naidoo to listen to the call and see if there was any discussion regarding the additional minutes. I called again on Friday the 12th and finally got hold of Zama who proceeded to listen to the call and advise that there was no discussion regarding the additional minutes, I queried what had happened and was told that the special that included the 500 minutes expired on the 15th of February and I had upgraded on the 17th of February, I queried why I wasn’t advised on this and was told that they assume we know what it included in a package. I queried if Octavia at any time during the call advised me on what was included in the package. I know for a fact I could not only have 250 minutes as I am a consultant. I was advised that she had not advised me and that the only thing that was discussed was the 10 GB data due to ME asking about this.

Besides the terrible service when trying to get feedback I shocked that I was told that “We assume you know what is included” and that it is not required to confirm with the clients what is included in the package. I’ve been a good client to Cell C paying over R1000 until now and now i'm suck with a substandard contract for 2 years, Very bitter taste in my mouth. BE VERY CAREFUL and make sure that you ask about each and every second and cent.

Even more furious, I did not want minutes that were not due to me but wanted clarity on why this process is flawed and the content of the package is not confirmed, so when your agent called to tell me "I'd love to give you the minutes but I can't cause we assume you've done your homework and should know what the package includes" made me even more furious.

10 minutes of reading terms and conditions and not one minute used to confirm what is included ??? Cell C you should take more responsibility for your bad process and terrible comments made to clients saying they should know what the package includes !!!!

An unhappy client for the next two years cause I'm stuck with you but lesson learnt and I will never open a contract again with Cell C

All future customers and people looking to upgrade.. beware !!!!
