bad service and cannot give a simple settlement on a contract

so i am no longer employed, have been calling Cell C asking them to close my account and send me the settlement, only to find out they have handed me over to debt collectors. their excuse is that i did not contact them for 3 months, this is a lie as i called them directly since october and told them of my predicament and asked for a settlement. now i called their legal and no one wants to help me, let alone give me my settlement so that I can settle what i owe on the data contract. no wonder they are closing.
