Bad Bad service

On the 8th of July my 90 year old Dad took out a contract with Cell C in Shelly Centre, Shelley Beach, Kwazulu Natal. He chose a brand new Samsung Grand Prime + phone, signed the contract and went home a happy man. Within a day or two he started having problems with his phone. It would give him a message that he was not registered on the Cell C network! He eventually went back to the storea week later, 30 kms from home, not exactly around the corner!Krishendren told him to take out the simcard and re-insert it again when he gets the same problem. Every time this happened he did exactly that, but it kept happening, no-one can get hold of him, he cannot make calls, keeps on getting frustrated. Eventually he tried phoning the store on 2 August, just to get a message that he has no airtime, but his debit order went through on 25 July? Where did the airtime go to? He left it for a couple of days , feeling that he would like a new phone or that he should cancel the contract as he is not getting any use from the phone, he would rather go to MTN where he was sure he would get better service.

Enentually he got to the store on 12 August, he could not go earlier as his brother has passed away and he had to attend the funeral in Alberton, I went with my parents as I did not want him to drive so far on his own!The two ladies in the store told him he will stop having this problem if he buys another simcard. REALLY? Isn't this supposed to be a brand new contract and phone? Why not just replace the pone with a new one? What if he goes home and the problem is still there? By now my Dad has travelled to the store for a 3rd time, 30 kms there, 30kms back x 3 days, that is 180kms and not getting any joy? To buy another simcard he has to show his ID again(which he had on him) plus proof of address? REALLY? he took out the contract a month ago, why must he have proof of address again? Who drives around with proof of address? Why on earth would they treat a 90 year old man this way. He walked out of the store, there was no way in hell he was going to go back there again! He just cannot afford to go back again, he has used up all his money set aside for petrol! Now he is sitting with a phone that is not working! There is also absolutely NO RECEPTION in Leisure Bay on the Cell C network too, unless you drive 6 kms further to Port Edward where there is limited reception too!, What is the use of having a cell phone that does not work most of the time, he has to take out and insert the sim two or three times a day PLUS there is no reception? Plus the the staff at the store are absolutely idiots, none of them know how to handle a customer! A customer comes first! Sort out the problem immediately! I would like to see if someone, somewhere cares a damn at CellC? I think the service he got at that store STINKS! It is all about sales, earning commision and to hell with the customer!!!!!!!I think this is disgusting service!!!!!!!

Thank you for notifying us of the above.

We apologize for the poor network signal you have been experiencing. We have requested one of our consultants to liaise with our network team and advise on a way forward. Do expect communication.

The network signal is much better thank you but still no luck with sorting out my Dad's phone. No use having a contract for a month and still he cannot use his phone, it keeps on saying no service and has to be re-booted over and over again! He cannot be reached, in voicemail the whole time, something very wrong here!
