Absolutely abysmal 'service' from Cell C

Hello Peter

Over the last couple of months I have tried to complete the following transactions with Cell C:

Have a handset repaired

Open a new account

Upgrade an account

In each and every case Cell C has let me down (yes, even when opening a new account!)

My latest issue pertains to a bill of nearly R15 000.00 (approximately 20 times my usual bill) for 'roaming services' I was in Namibia for a week on a road trip (ie limited access to signal) and turned my phone on about 3 times to take pictures and use wi-fi services when at a campsite. In additiona to not actually making a single call whilst I was away (so what exactly am I being billed for?) I have a cap on my account of R2500.00 which Cell C are now trying to tell me does not apply to roaming. I do not accept this. A cap is a cap - why would it not apply to roaming? When your phone bill reaches a certain amount they are obliged to disable your service. Period.

I logged a query on Monday. It is now Friday and I have not heard a word from Cell C. If that debit order is pulled from my account I will not be able to pay salaries.

Come on Cell C - this is serious. Sort this out please. My reference number is ********** 186

Taryn

After investigating my query Cell C could find no evidence of having given me the terms and conditions of roaming, specifically those stating that a cap on the account set by the customer does not apply to roaming and offered to reverse the billing for data usage whilst on roaming. I was ecstatic. They then called back to say they had reviewed my case again and were now only offering to reduce the bill by 40%. I told them that this was not acceptable and they said that they would escalate it. I did not hear back from them for a week so I followed up and was told that 'management' would not budge on the 40%. I asked to speak to management and was told that management does not speak to customers. I have been loyal to Cell C for more than 15 years and they have failed me. I will be taking this matter further with the ombudsman, with an attorney, with the media - basically whoever can assist me. I am not the first person this has happened to - perhaps I can prevent others from being **********.

The Cell C consultant assigned to my case is now on leave. As expected, no-one else has been assigned to my case and nothing further has been done. No-one has bothered to contact me or provide me with an update. Shame on you Cell C. I will be cancelling all my business contracts with Cell C as well as my personal contract.

Here is the latest example of Cell C's Abysmal Customer Service:

I was contacted by Skhumbuzo Ndhlovu (Social Media Consultant) on 28 October who indicated that 'your case is with management and you will receive feedback on Monday." As expected I heard nothing on Monday and when I contacted Skhumbuzo I was told 'I will request that my manager calls you first thing tomorrow'. I have heard nothing since then. Cell C simply does not care about the customer. This is without a doubt the worst customer service experience I have had with Cell C, in fact with any company, ever. I have drafted a very informative letter which will be sent to various media. I hope that it will encourage people to think twice about signing up with Cell C.
