13 Gigs of Cell C data going missing
Cell C knew this was coming, but it did not seem to bother them. I am appalled by their lack of consumer care or interest in my complaint, which I brought to their attention on 24 October 2019. I bought a 12 month data bundle from Cell C, which was charged to my phone 25 October 2018. I received an sms after adding the data to say that the data would expire on 24 October 2019. On 23 October 2019 I went to visit their Cape Gate store twice to purchase a further 12 month bundle. They were unable to assist me as they were offline. I was not too concerned as my data was set to expire on the 24 October 2019 and I had approximately 13 gigs left. The morning of 24 October 2019 when I sat down to work I found that I had no data. I went to visit the Cape Gate store who confirmed that the data indeed should of only expired at midnight on the 24th, going into the 25th. They called the call center for me and I spoke to a lady named Joy. Joy was clearly going out of her way to be unhelpful. I answered all her security questions, but did not know my postal code. Joy was not happy about this and seemed unwilling to help me because of this. Something so minor tells me her interest is definitely not customer service, but more likely being unhelpful. She explained to me that the data expired at 2am on the 24 October 2019 and that the data could expire at anytime on the 24 October 2019. I was unhappy with this resolution and asked to speak to her supervisor. I explained by unhappiness to her supervisor and he said he would escalate the matter and get back to me. To this day, I have received no response from him. I then private messaged Cell C via Facebook to explain my unhappiness. The following day a lady called me and said that my data actually expired the 23 October 2019. I advised her that I actually still had the sms from a year ago saying the 24 October 2019. She clearly did not expect I had this message from a year ago and immediately went quiet. She asked me to send her the proof of sms via the Facebook inbox. I am disgusted that Cell C would actually get someone to call me and lie about when my data expired in the hope that I did not have the sms proof from a year ago. Up to that moment everyone had confirmed it was the 24 October 2019 and the person who called me would of known this, this was clearly a way to try and catch me out regarding the missing data. If my memory serves me correctly, data providers are required to send you an sms reminding you of the data that is about to expire. They did not do this either. I was lucky to have kept the sms from a year ago, or I would have no leg to stand on. After I sent the screenshot of the sms confirming the data was meant to expire on 24 October 2019 I received a response from Cell C asking me to provide the number of the phone in question. All this information was in the same email string. I reminded them of this fact. To this day I have received no resolution to this matter and find it disappointing that Cell C could ***** 13 gigs of data, which is alot to me, and not have the decency to reimburse me or return the data.
