Claiming that I gave Consent for them to check my bank accounts
I received a phone call yesterday from a lady who works for CDS Consulting. After I asked her to call me back, I noticed that I had received SMS with the following messages: 1) You are likely to benefit from a consolidation solution with DebtBusters, Reply YES for a free callback. Free reply. Stop=optout 2) I, ..., ID ..., gave consent to request my credit report on 2026-06-01. Reason: Affordability Assessment. CDS Consulting (PTY) Ltd (3 SMS with the same message).
Firstly, I did not reply to SMS #1, so I don't know where they came up with message #2. I contacted my Bank to ask about CDS Consulting and the bank has warned me about them. So I have placed a watch on my accounts and have activated a ***** status on CDS Consulting if anything changes on my banking without me being notified by the bank. I DID NOT give consent, and if CDS Consulting feels that I did, I would like to see the signed consent.
