Terrible experience with Afrihost and CCD Couriers

I would just like to inform you of my hellish experience with Afrihost and CCD couriers over the last 10 days...

On the 8th of March I realised I had no internet connectivity, I thought it was just a network issue and that the problem would resolve itself (it has happened before that there was an Afrihost "outage"). I was really busy until the 10th and when the same problem arose, I sent a mail to Afrihost to check whether there was an issue on their side. It was concluded that MTN had deactivated my sim card, because there were no MTN revenue charges on my sim card. So, I ordered an Afrihost sim card on the 14th of March and paid the CCD courier fee of R150 on the same day. I opted to have the sim delivered to my husband's workplace, as I am a mobile dog groomer and trainer, hence I'm always on the road. They did not advise me that if the sim is delivered to an alternative contact person, the sim would then be RICA'd in that recipients name!

Nevertheless, I was contacted by CCD on the 15th of March to confirm the delivery details (to my husband's workplace) and delivery was scheduled for Friday the 17th between 12:00 and 14:00. They said they would require my husband's proof of address and a copy of his ID to RICA the sim card. I explained that the sim should be RICA'd in my name, because it is my account, but they could not / would not understand. I e-mailed Afrihost in the morning of the 17th, with a copy of my ID and proof of address, stating in no uncertain terms that the sim must be RICA'd in my name - I never received a response to that mail. I then spoke to my husband and he said he would provide a copy of his ID and proof of address, if that is what they wanted. My husband cancelled meetings and had to ask a colleague to collect goods for him, because he needed to be at the office to receive the sim card, however, the delivery never took place! When I tried phoning CCD later that day, I could not get through to them and they don't work over weekends. Eventually I got a hold of CCD (on Monday the 20th), but they denied that the delivery was ever scheduled, to which I rep**** that they should go listen to the audio recordings and they will find that it was confirmed telephonically...

I also e-mailed Afrihost on the 18th to explain that the delivery was not made and that my husband would not be in the office to receive the delivery the following week. I requested that they deliver it to me (the account holder) at my home address, so recipient and address needed to be updated. The warehouse was notified of the necessary changes at 09:06 am on the 20th, but I continued receiving phone calls from CCD to arrange delivery to the incorrect address and incorrect recipient, this after Afrihost sent me a sms saying that details have been updated with CCD. When I phoned CCD back to confirm whether the details have been updated, they said that they did not receive any instructions from Afrihost to do so... Also in the end, they refused to speak to me regarding the delivery, yet kept phoning me, on my phone, wanting to speak to my husband who was away on business.

On the 22nd I finally received word that the recipient was updated (however, address was still not amended) and this after I had to phone and threaten to close my account with Afrihost. Delivery was once again scheduled for Friday the 24th (today), between 12:00 and 14:00. Again, delivery did not occur! In order to be at home to receive the delivery, I had cancelled an appointment with a client and lost R200 in the process. So after many frustrating calls, e-mails to and live chats with Afrihost and CCD, spending R170 on airtime in the process, I decided enough is enough and have cancelled my Afrihost Mobile Data Package, as well as the delivery of the sim card that was supposedly en-route to who knows where. I would like to request the courier charge of R150 to be reimbursed to me, into my bank account, ASAP.

The biggest aggravation here is that I have been unable to utilise my Afrihost Data, which I have already paid for, since the 8th of March. I use this data for business purposes, which means I have lost potential business, and have not been able to do research or send / receive business related e-mails since then. I wanted the new sim card activated today, because I needed to do research for a client I'm seeing tomorrow. I'm not available next week to take delivery, so this has become one big fat inconvenience and nightmare! And when a supplier starts affecting your business negatively due to non-compliance / no service delivery, you have every right to terminate your agreement or discontinue use of their services. Afrihost took my money on the 14th, today is the 24th and I still have no goods, so I think it is fair to say that CCD did not deliver on their 3 - 5 day delivery promise and that communication between these 2 parties is non-existent. Nobody will make a phone call to a supervisor or manager to enquire why there is a delay and speed up an urgent matter, everybody just keeps passing the buck, always WAITING for somebody else to do something. Have you heard the story of Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody? Google it and be enlightened!
