Poor service, terrible communication, late delivery

The company in question, CCD Couriers, was unable to fulfil a simple set of instructions and overcomplicated a situation by not showing up at the agreed times and also communicating poorly.

On 18 May 2017, we arranged delivery of a new FNB card. This was arranged for 19 May 2017between 14:00 and 16:00 to be received by a third party. CCD did not show up between 14:00 and 16:00 on 19 May 2017. I called them at 15:30 and gave them the reference number to find out if the courier would arrive in time. I was told that it would escalated and that I would be contacted. I was not contacted until 20 May 2017, which was a Saturday, via SMS.

Everything was silent from their side, until we contacted them 24 May 2017. Several things emerged: We had specified the address which is a STREET and they had AVENUE in their system. This demonstrates ineptitude in communication. It also emerged that because I was a third party that not only was a copy of first party and my ID required but also a letter giving permission of receipt. This was not communicated before. Delivery was arranged for 25 May 2017 between 13:00 and 15:00.

We were informed at 13:47 that the courier was 16 minutes away, This was not the case. When speaking to the company at 14:16, they said the reference number would be escalated and I (third party) would be contacted. They contacted the first party and not the right person, at 14:47.

The courier called the first party, again the wrong person, and said they were in the area and seemed lost. Again, poor communication and a strong demonstration of ineptitude.

Finally, the courier arrived at 15:01. It emerged that the copies of the IDs were no enough, that the originals were needed. This had never been stated, even when asked specifically multiple times. Again, terrible communication. The first party arrived, negating the point of the entire exercise, and was able to sort it all out.

It also emerged from the courier that he had showed up in the morning, around 10:00. (If he had, it doesn't explain why he was lost this afternoon). This is yet another point of incompetence. Why arrange for a specific time window if you show up during the wrong period? People can't sit at home waiting for couriers to show up when they want.

I tried to call CCD to complain about the situation, but I was punted from department to department. As an FNB customer I was put through to Diner's Club department. Again, stellar demonstration of ineptitude. Sheer incompitence.

They have not called back.

I do not understand why FNB, a bank I trust and have had decent service from, would use such an *********** courier. This took a week to resolve, and the company refuses to acknowledge the problem.
