Dear Sir/Madam

Re: CCD Couriers

Due to ******** activity on my Discovery credit card, I arranged with a very pleasant lady at Discovery to have my card cancelled, and a new one issued. She advised me to fill in a form describing the *****. All this was done on 8 February 2017. She said it would take 2-3 working days to deliver the new card to me. I explained that I work from home as a psychologist and so cannot be interrupted during sessions. She explained that this would not happen, the courier company would arrange a convenient time beforehand for delivery. Discovery had apparently tasked CCD Couriers with this task:

On 11/02/17 CCD smssed me to say that the card would be delivered to me on Tuesday, 14/02/17 between 10am and 12pm. I cleared my diary and spent 2 hours waiting in vain. After 12pm with no word from them, I smssed them to ask them when they were arriving and they told me there had been a delay, and they would contact me for alternative arrangements.

On Wednesday 15/02/17 a lady from CCD couriers telephoned me to say that: ‘since you were not at the delivery address’ yesterday, they were phoning to make alternative arrangements. I set her straight. She apologised. We arranged for the card to be delivered on Friday, 17/02/17 between 12pm and 14h00. Again I cleared my diary and waited in vain. At 13h45 CCD smssed to say there had been a delay, and they would contact me for alternative arrangements. I smssed CCD to tell them this was unacceptable as it had been the second time.

Later on that same afternoon, 17/02/17 I received an sms from CCD Couriers to say they are on route to me, and would arrive within the next 26 minutes. They have yet to arrive …

I wrote an email to Discovery on 17/02/17, explaining the unacceptability of this behaviour, pointing out that to date I had lost 4 hours in time, client discomfort and R2400 in income, just waiting for something that would not happen. I requested them to make an arrangement I could trust.

On 18/2/17 (and many times after that) I have been smssed by CCD to say that ‘since they had not been able to contact me to arrange delivery of the card’ they need me to contact them.

Every time we have spoken on the phone since then, which occurs at least once a day, I explained that they could deliver on any day before 09h00 and after 18h30 which are my working hours. They seem incapable of doing this.

By Monday 20/2/17 I responded to another of their apparent policy of ‘the client is always wrong and CCD is always right’ messages, by suggesting CCD drop off the card at FNB, Blue Route branch, and if they could then please notify me when they had already done so, this could work.

On Wednesday 22/02/17 I was smssed by CCD to say only that ‘they would deliver the card to Tokai’. I smssed back to say Tokai is a suburb – and asked them again if they would confirm when they had actually succeeded in delivering the card, and to which address exactly they had delivered it.

It has now been 14 days, client discomfort, numerous wasted hours and money, and still no further down the line than when I started. Any further communication on my part seems to be illogically frustrating, a waste of time, and unnecessary.

Sandy Hoffman

Tel: (021) **********

Cel: 072 **********

Web: www.sandyhoffman.co.za
