Outwitting a nitwit.
#BlackFriday Outwitting a nitwit- Today a gentleman by the name of Abongile at Cash Crusaders Wynberg's buy shop earns the spotlight. I attempted pawning a 92.5%pure silver necklace, I couldn't help but noticing the lady before me being vendored a R50 for a single bar stool now, I'm no expert but before going to to cash crusaders I checked the daily trade value of silver in grams. When it was my turn to step to the counter, I explained to the buy shop rep that necklaces of this caliber sell for between R800 and R2600, he took one look at the necklace and rep**** with " my guy, here we buy for the value of silver in grams" which I intern wanted to know what the value was, he told me that they offer R3 per gram of silver which unbeknowing to him I had already read up on prior to me going to cash crusaders and the updated value was R8 per gram. Which is irrelevant if the necklace which was still in mint condition were to be sold over the counter at half of its retail value(earning my asking price back in full as well as a profit). What's disappointing to me is that if he were to give me R3 per gram of which the necklace weighs 7g that would have made me a complete sucker to accept R21 for a necklace which once costed R800. When I ask him to weigh it for me for interests sake Abongile adds "we don't actually buy according to the weight, we buy according to how it looks" which contradicts his previous statement. I feel that had I been a figure 8 young ebony lady maybe I would've gotten better assistance, like the young lady who sold him a barstool.
It would actually interest me to know what the buy rep named Abongile meant when he said "we buy according to how it looks"
