No warranty offered on new item purchased

Today (27 October 2017) I purchased a game controller from Cash Crusaders in Centurion mall. The consultant tore off a blank till slip and advised me to write down my name,ID, contact number and address, no explanation given as to why. I had to ask and she responded that it is for warranty purposes. This is horrible!! So I provide you all my personal details on a blank torn of till slip and this is suppose to be my warranty. How? There is no information on it stating that this item purchased in store will have a warranty and for how long. Asking me to put my details on a blank peace of paper I am sure is ******* in regards to the Popi Act which is clearly not being honored by this store. Now if the item is faulty or does not work the store gets there money and I the customer is stuck with a broken item sold to me.
