No return policy on electrical equipment

I bought a drill (720w Makita) at cash crusaders. This was in goodwood on the 6th of November. Used the drill once at home it lost power and stop working. I could only get the chance to return the drill on the 27 November. I explained the above to the salesman Siya Futa. He informed me that i can return the drill as it is still under garantee. Went the next day to salesman. He took the machine behind closed doors. A lady came back to say the boss informed her to let me know they changed there policy on second hand goods. So the drill do not honour the guarantee anymore. I wanted to speak to the boss he denied to speak to me. The slip at the back state i have a 6 month guarantee which states on there that i can bring it back or refund or replace it. This is not what there policy states on the slip and suddenly he changed it. This is bad after service and i want answers.
