Dissatisfied with services at Cash Crusaders

To Whom It May Concern 2 December 2016

I am an unhappy customer due to the following set of events experienced at Cash Crusaders branches;

I visited Cash Crusaders, Westgate Mall, Mitchell`s Plain at 9:48am on the 26th November 2016 and dealt with a sales consultant by the name of Mariam. I wanted to view and wireless router which was on display and explained to the consultant that I live in Bonteheuwel and that Telkom lines at not being installed due to theft, therefore I was looking for a completely wireless router.

The item I was looking at was marked wireless ADSL, a Telkom product. After the consultant took the box and enquired further in-store, she returned and confirmed it to be wireless. As this product appeared to be best suited to my needs, I paid my R199, 00 and left the store.

Upon arriving at home and inspecting the device I found that a Telkom landline was a requirement, this being something I do not have. The only available time I had to return to the store was Wednesday the 30th November 2016, which I did. I explained to the lady at the counter that my wife misplaced the proof of purchase and that I am unable to produce same. I furthermore pointed out to her the Cash Crusader`s sticker and barcode on the item purchased and provided proof of purchase on my phone, which according to the lady was still not sufficient for a refund. I then requested an audience with the store manager in order to explain my situation, which I did to a young manageress who did not provide her name. I explained that I was sold an item which served no purpose for my needs and that I had proof of such purchase on my telephone screen. The manageress then reiterated that no refund would be possible without a receipt, irrespective of the proof of payment in my possession. I asked if they were not able to draw a copy of the receipt from their tills and was advised this not to be possible. I then asked her to check then on the computer screen in order to view the purchase/payment, and again I was refused. I was told Cash Crusaders do not accept returns without the customers receipt as proof of payment.

What disturbs me is the fact that I am an avid supporter of the Cash Crusaders brand and always have been for this shop which has been in operation for an extremely long while. Cash Crusaders are issuing receipts without retaining counterfoils for testimony purposes??? I am in disbelief of the poor after sales service and uncaring attitude towards their customers who ultimately made the store and the name who they are today through customer support. I find it a bit hard that as big as they are, that they would bicker over a measly R199.

On a previous occasion, I sent my son to Cash Crusaders Gatesville on the 31st October 2016 and asked that he buys a Vodafone modem (3G). My son bought the item from Raafiq for R99, 00 when I got home the evening and tested the modem it never worked. I then went to the Vodacom shop in Vangate Mall where I was explained that because I have windows 10 on my laptop the 3G modem would not operate as it is not compatible. I went back to Cash Crusaders the following weekend and spoke to a younger gentleman who explained that I needed the proof of payment in order to get a refund. An endless search only recently revealed the receipt. On the 30th November 2016 same date as above I went back to Cash Crusaders Gatesville and was informed by one of the staff after consulting the manager that the item in question could only be returned within a 48 hour period of purchase and that I could sell the item back to them. Obviously this would be at a much lower cost. As a matter of principle, I cannot accept this offer.

This in conjunction with my set circumstances are not explained on the receipt. Customer care is most definitely not at the top of Cash Crusaders business list this year.
