De*****ing customer with incorrect return policy

I bought a Drill in the middle of December and couldn't use it at the time so I decided to return it to the 2 weeks later and to my surprise I was told that I'm only allowed to return items in 7days of purchase but their policy doesn't state that. It says "out of the box faulty goods can only be exchanged or refunded in within 7 days of purchase" so my item is not faulty and still has a box in good condition and yet they said no you must keep the item even if you don't need it any more
