Cash Crusaders, Observatory, Cape Town

I purchased a Dixon Wireless mouse from Cash Crusaders, Observatory, Cape Town on the 7th of July (slightly over a month ago). It worked for a couple of weeks and then stopped working. I took it back today and they tested it and confirmed it is not working. They refused to either replace it (they have plenty in stock), and refused to refund me (which was not the purpose of my visit - I simply wanted it replaced). They claim that their policy for returns is 7 days. I explained that the Consumer Protection Act supersedes their "policy", as it is gazetted and law!!! It was at this stage that they (the counter staff and Manageress) got very rude with me and told me to do whatever I liked. The value is only R89, but that is besides the point. I am extremely angry at the was I have been treated and the complete arrogance of the staff at said Cash Crusaders branch. I then phoned their HO and got the same attitude. Considering I got the same reply from "customer care" at their HO, it seems that they feel they are (as a group) excluded from the Consumer Protection Act.

They will NEVER see another cent of my money and I would advise others to be very wary of spending any money at their stores.
