Cash Crusaders Knysna refuses refund on defective product – CPA rights ignored

I purchased an electrical frying pan from Cash Crusaders Knysna. Within only two weeks of normal household use, the non-stick coating peeled off and the product became unsafe to use. When my partner attempted to return it, the store refused a refund, stating that their "policy" only allows refunds within 7 days. We were never informed of such a policy at purchase.

Instead, they now insist on sending the product away for "repairs" and afterwards replacing it with another frying pan. We do not want another one of the same poor-quality product – we want our money back.

According to the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 (CPA):

Section 56 gives consumers the right to return defective goods within 6 months of purchase.

The consumer may choose between a refund, replacement, or repair – the choice lies with the consumer, not the supplier.

A store policy cannot override South African law.

Cash Crusaders Knysna is clearly ignoring the CPA and my consumer rights. I expect a full refund as required by law. If this is not resolved immediately, I will escalate this complaint to the National Consumer Commission (NCC) and the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO).

This type of conduct is unacceptable. I am demanding my money back, as is my legal right under the CPA.
