Refund/ exchange refused on damaged goods

I bought a serving bowl and I only opened it later to realise it is broken The shop at Clear water refused to exhange it even though they could see the packaging was in a poor condition. The sales team told me they couldn't accept liability and the loss. So much for great service😫
