Carrol Boyes does not care for its customers.
I am a good customer of Carrol Boyes, Centurion Mall as well as Carrol Boyes at the Morningside center in Johannesburg. Both shops will vouch for me and both shops have very friendly and informed staff - so I like to visit. In April I purchased 3 Mandarin Dishes - Men at work. 2 to take overseas to my daughter and my sister and one for myself. 3 weeks ago we had reason to celebrate and my friend from Cape Town brought me a gift.. It was a Mandarin Dish. I did not unwrap all my gifts that evening, so I left it gift wrapped by the shop in the original paper and the original Carrol Boyes bag. A few days later I was at the Mall of Africa, I brought the package and asked if they would exchange it. They told me that I needed the original receipt or a gift receipt which I did not have. They saw the gift was still wrapped and suggested that I contact Head office which I tried to do. I left my number several times in the hope that someone would return my call as the phone does not get answered. A week later no calls so I went to the website and completed the form... 10 days later no response. I then went to the Morningside shop and the two ladies who are there and know me said they would contact Head office and their manager, they know that a few months ago I actually bought 3 of the Mandarin Dishes. I do not want to ask my friend for a gift receipt, it is now over 3 weeks ago and I do not want to appear rude and tell her that I would like to exchange her very thoughtful dish. I have always thought Carrol Boyes items for overseas friends, family and clients to be a unique South African gift. Just 3 weeks ago I bought 2 complete sets of cutlery for my daughter. I am forever looking and buying. So you can imagine how disappointed I am that Head Office does not feel the need to respond to customers, rather ignore them. I am also terribly disappointed that in a case where there is no obvious use or abuse of a Carrol Boyes product still wrapped, purchase by a client well known to the shop and the ladies working there and who vouch for their customer, gets completely ignored.
