If you want MORE car troubles go to car care clinic!

I am only giving 1 star because it's not possible for me to not give any. My car broke down and decided to take it to a 'reputable' car place due to many horror stories involving car mechanics lol boy was I wrong. I was told my entire engine needed to be redone and this was going to cost me a whopping R40k, fine, do what needs to be done. They had my car for 16 days, in that 16 days you would think that R40k buys you some customer service as well with regular updates on what's going on with the car (mind you I was told "they cannot update you every second") yes they damn well can because if BMW can do it when they have your car then so can car care clinic otherwise why on earth do you have a receptionist?? Anyway, got the car back after 16 days and 24 hours later my husband is broken down on the side of the road, N2 outbound from town right where the skollies sleep under the bridge. Dead phone so no way to contact anyone, abandon the car that has just been 'fixed' and returned to us praying it doesn't get stripped or impounded and made his way on foot to the waterfront to make contact with me, this is at 11:45pm. R9k spend on Uber to and from work for the 16 days car care clinic had our can and a fixed car back but here we are again calling another Uber to come home. 8am the next morning we are on the phone with car care clinic to explain this situation to them. Do you think they prioritised us considering it's a 'fixed' car and our R40k bill was paid up?? Nope, had to wait ages and make multiple phone calls to follow up on whether they found the car, had it in their possesion or just any information at all all the while the manager of the Helderberg branch is just so nonchalant about all of it and... No apology lmao... This got me frustrated to the point of finding a contact for a Regional manager because this cannot really be happening. Made contact with the Regional manager who seems to be the only one with a little bit of sense (Rodney) he called the manager of Helderberg and things started happening finally, the communication was still lacking but atleast we knew where the car was at this stage. Oh I left out a bit that is crucial to the experience, when we got our car back initially, the gears were slipping in 2nd and 4th gear, manager at Helderberg said that they didn't touch the gears, Rodney confirmed that for what they needed to fix the gears needed to be removed so manager is a **** as well. Anyway after investigation of the engine that just had a full redo it was discovered that final checks were not conducted, the cooling system needed replacing and they didn't notice a fault fuel pipe clip which lead to the car ****ing out fuel and over heating. I was also told that this manager would look into fixing the gears that they had messed up. 24 hours later my car was collected by my husband and you guessed it, the gears are still slipping and not fixed. When the manager was told he told me husband to come back so that he could see how my husband is driving lol, the man was raging cars since he was 18 and does not need anyone to check how he is changing gears and I feel that is rather insulting considering this man **** about touching the gears in the first place. Horid experience with this company and certainly will never be using them again. Will also be taking the matter further because since it came back with a full engine reconditioning and R40k later the engine is still making strange knocking sounds and waiting for the day we are broken down again on the side of the road with catastrophic engine failure lol will be speaking to consumer protection people and the mechanics ombudsman
