Dont Use Care Car Clinic: Not to be Trused

In June 2024 I went to Car Car Clinic on Jan Smuts with Volvo XC 60 for a service and some minor work flushing brakes etc. They came back with a quote for R60000. When I looked into the quote they were charging R16000 for a cambelt kit and water pump. I checked with Volvo and the price was R4000. I had a long discussion with the owner manager challenging his prices and got the quote adjust and reduced to R20000. I also insisted they use the Volvo genuine Parts and gave then the contact details for Tom Campher Motors spar parts as they had the part waiting for them.

Long story short they finished the job I paid and 2 days later complained that the belt they replaced was squealing. Their solution was to spray wD40 which didn't work for more than a day. Fruitless efforts to get any satisfaction from them. Now 10000 klm later just out of the 6 month warranty we have oil leak and frayed belt (water pump / alternator belt. All faults are due to shoddy workmanship and generic parts. A pully was loose because the bolt was not tightened causing the belt to wear prematurely. I am complaining to head office and will do my best to make sure I warn as many customers as possible.

I also asked for quotes recently from the same care Car Clinic and the branch in melrose for my Mazda CX-5 BOTHE quotes were over charging for parts and the Jan Smuts branch was R24000 (R4000) more than the melrose branch at R19000. The job was eventual done by Mazda Randburg for R6000
