Car Care Clinic Service Centre Lynwood - is it a ****, Incompetence or Both?

MY experience - AVOID like the plague!! On 27/03/24, I took my Isuzu KB300 Car Care Clinic Lynwood for diagnoses, quote for repair, and if agreed to, repair of the following (1) the sudden coolant leak that happened while i was driving (2) the oil leak on the tappet cover around the suction control valve, (3) the loose handbrake.

Car Care Clinic reported their findings telephonically on 28/03/2024 as; -WATER LEAK - sorry, we cant find the problem. we recommend that drive carefully going forward! -OIL LEAKS ON TOP OF THE ENGINE - it is coming from the oil filter, from way down in the sump area. Never mind that the oil is weeping from around the tappet cover and suction control valve. Never mind that the car has no signs of any upward oil splashes from the oil filter to any other engine components in the upper engine area. Their solution - recommended an oil filter change. The charge for this? R1995.00!! Erring on the side of caution, (and to my later chagrin as subsequent events show), I agreed. Their invoice shows 5l of engine oil was put in. My car takes 7litres. BRAKES - we must change your brake drums, cylinders and shoes for the princely sum of R9500. I coughed once, and said no to this.

On collecting the car, I found the engine unwashed. An oily fluid was splattered on the plastic components (fuse box, battery, air intake filter housing and pipes, etc). as for the identification of the oil leak, The Service Manager claimed that - Car Care Clinic has a POLICY NOT to wash engines when they are doing oil leak diagnoses! I am still doing double takes on this!

He also said that the oily fluid on the plastic components in the engine bay was to make the engine look and smell nice!! when I queried this, he offered to wash the engine bay, not the engine. For good measure and as a sign of Car Care Clinic's best intents, he began wiping the oily stuff from the engine plastic components, right on the street parking. I refused this offer. I could no longer trust Car Clare Clinic with my car for any second longer. Worse that they put riders on their invoice, like by the way, CCC is not liable for anything we touched on your car!!

Am I out of pocket for R1995.00 for Care Care Clinic to smudge an oily mess on the plastic components of my engine as the sum total of their effort to improve the aesthetics of my engine? For good measure, they forgot to put my service book back in the car. I had to drive back for it. What a disgrace! So I have a question to Car Care Clinic. Are you running a business, or this is some ****? I ask this as I feel well and truly shafted from my one experience with them!
