Your money not save at Capitec Bank
At the end of the month July when I wanted to do payments from my Capitec account opening the Capitec app I discvered that there were seven payments that I did not initiate nor authorise. The beneficiary was indicated as Haulmer Constructora L RA L AGO CL and the total value of the transactions done amounted to R4536,77, with another R70 charged as banking fees. I immediately took this up from within the app which initiated a WhatsUp conversation that only convened the next day, during which I was promised that the bank would look into these *****ulent occurences, they cancelled my card and I had to get a new card by getting one from any branch, which I did. As I was still missing my money after 4 weeks I wrote an email to their customer services to complain about the non-action from their side on this ***** they allowed to happen. On which they responded by email that the matter was still investigated, followed a day later by a SMS informing me that they are unable to recoup the money – with the untold implication that they are unwilling to reimburse me the money they allowed to exit my account without my permission. I followed that up with an email telling them that it becoming clear one's money is not save at Capitec, and they should do something about it showing it is save to bank at Capitec. To which I received no response, now already the third day after the given deadline. So now I'm at the point where I have to express my dissatisfaction with Capitec and warn others that their money is not save at Capitec. Capitec allows transactions to happen on your account without you initiating or approving same. This in stark contrast with ABSA who phoned me one evening late asking whether I was busy with a transaction with such and so company. When I told them no, they immediately cancelled my card with my permission, and I had to get a new card for free the next day at any branch.
