Xenophobic experience at Capitec Bank

Yesterday (25/05/2017) I went to Capitec Cascades, Pietermaritzburg. I was there to enquire about opening an account. the service I received was relatively good up until the point when I submitted by SA ID which states I am a non-SA citizen. I was interrogated about my genuine supporting document namely my proof of address. My responses to their questions were not to their satisfaction. I advised them to call the estate agent Century 21 to verify my address because the document I had seemed inadequate for them. I was then advised to print a bank statement which I then did. I brought this to them and upon starting the application, I was told again that my address on the statement was still inadequate because it was shortened from Alexandra to Alexan on the bank statement. My frustration lies in the fact that I had all my documents but was refused to open an account. I have had many similar experiences to this and I don't think I would have been treated in this manner if I was a South African.

during the whole interaction. the manager was also assisting one of the employees. though he was dealing with my case but never approached me to explain properly what was happening. he just kept looking at me from a distance.
